when the president came there, we remember president george w. bush standing with megaphone in ground zero. there is a long history, is there not, of presidents of the united states trying to embrace the nation and embrace a community? >> unfortunately that's true. we are all too used to tragedies in various forms. just to add a few other examples, we all remember president reagan at the challenger space shuttle does aster. lifting people's spirits. we remember president clinton at the columbine shootings, oklahoma city bombing aftermath. and this is just something we expect of presidents. they do have to perform the function of being mourner in chief because, unfortunately, we are mourning a lot. >> governor, from your perspective, what do you think it can mean to these individuals to know that the president of the united states has traveled here to aurora? what is his role? >> i you this he is doing right thing you about just talking to the victims and victims' families and visiting some of the people in the hospital. particularly election year
